The Camshaft Gear / Sprocket application is different depending on the Valvetronic applications:
- The 2007-2010 Cooper has Valvetronic on Intake and Exhaust. (N12 engine)
- The 2007-2010 Cooper S has Valvetronic on the Intake only. (N14 engine)
- The 2011-2013 Cooper and Cooper S has Valvetronic on the Intake and Exhaust. (N16/N18 engines)
Both the Cooper and Cooper S used the same Adjustable INTAKE Gear for the N12/14 and N16/18 engines.
For the 2007-2010 Cooper S models (N14 engines), the Exhaust Cam used a simple non-adjustable Sprocket.
The 2007-2010 Cooper (N12 engine) and 2011+ Cooper and Cooper S (N16/18 engines) used the same Adjustable Exhaust Gear.
NOTE: Valvetronic / VANOS is BMW's version of the variable cam timing technology. Valvetronic varies the amount of valve lift while VANOS varies the duration of the valve opening / closing / overlap.
