All of the engine blocks that are used in later model MINIs have what is called "A+" blocks. While there are a number of ways to distinguish these from the earlier block, an easy way also is to look at the mounting for the alternator. The block was designed with the alternator in mind and it is fact not easy to fit the longer old fashion generator. The bracket used to mount the alternator to the A+ black can now be matched to your choice of engine colors. Lightweight aluminum annodized for color and durability.
