I am having the same problem with my 92 SPI and was wondering if you figured out what was going on with yours?
It is HOT in Florida and it seems to happen when the car gets hot.
AuburnGator 92 Jap spec SPI auto.

Have you replaced the in line fuse holder to the fuel pump, under the air filter box? It stretches when warm.

My 1995 Rove MINI 1.3 SPI tends to stall at stops when it is warm. It usually will not restart until it sits for a few minutes and upon restarting, tends to run a little rough. The car usually starts and runs fine otherwise.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to remedy this problem.
